controlling pests outside your home

Few things are quite as irritating as settling in on your patio or deck with a good book on a cool summer's evening and getting attacked by mosquitoes and other insects. Eliminating pests inside your home is oftentimes simple, but getting rid of the exterior pests can be a bit more complicated since they can come from so many places. Our blog will show you how to control exterior pests and even a few tips for keeping your home pest-free. We hope that the information that we have provided here will help you relax when you want to without having to deal with insects, rodents and other pests.

Remove Freeloading Flies From Your Restaurant

If you are in the restaurant business, you know the importance of having sanitary conditions as you work with consumable products. If you have noticed flies are getting into your establishment, you will need to work quickly in having them removed for hygienic reasons. Here are some tips you can use to remove flies completely and how to keep them from returning again in the future.

Seal Entryways

Do your best to keep all kitchen and dining room doors shut so flies do not make their way inside. They will be tempted by the smells of food, so it is important to avoid opening doors or windows during operating hours. Crank up the air conditioning if the establishment gets too warm instead of trying to get a cross breeze, as you may get some pesky intruders inside along with the air.

Limit Outdoor Food

If you have tables outdoors for your guests to enjoy their dinner, you may want to purchase a screen enclosure to help keep flies outside so people are not pestered while trying to eat their meals. Do your cooking inside rather than have a barbecue setup, if possible.

Reduce Trash

If you have a dumpster on your property, try double-bagging trash bags before throwing them inside to help minimize the scent of leftover food or grease, which will attract flies. Place a commercial-grade odor eliminator in the dumpster to help mask the odor so flies are not as quick to try gaining entry. Make sure the lid is secure so flies cannot harbor inside the dumpster, multiplying in number as a result.

Treat Drains

Flies are known to be attracted to sink drains as food particles and grease are often pushed down when washing dishes. Look for a drain treatment agent to pour into your drains to help eat away at grime embedded on the interior walls of your piping. You can also have the drains cleaned professionally.

Call In Professionals

If your fly problem does not cease with some of the above methods, call in the big guns to have them removed professionally. Have pest control services come during hours where you are not open for business and when food preparation will not be in process. You may wish to close the restaurant down for a day or two so you will have time for the process to work effectively.

A professional pest control service will bring in the proper pesticides needed to kill off flies completely. You will want to do a deep-cleaning of your establishment afterward to remove any fly carcasses before opening your business to the public.
